Types of acne
You looked at the mirror and you saw a pinkish bump on your face. It looks like a rash so it is just nothing you said. You looked again, this time a little closer and you saw a whitish color at the middle of the bump. Now you panicked. It is a pimple! Actually, the first description is also a mild type of acne, and then the second one with a whitish color is the other kind of acne.
These mild types of acne are nothing to worry about as long as you do the first aid treatment. Papules, like the one mentioned earlier is the mildest of all acne types, although it's classified as inflammatory. It usually looks like a simple rash. Naturally, it is a red bulge with a tender texture. It is a clear inflamed lesion on the skin.
When this lesion started to have visible white pus at the center, it's now called pustules. It's another type of inflammatory acne. Although it contains pus, it doesn't have many bacteria in it. The reason why you see pus is because of the irritation of the skin due to some components in the sebum oil like fatty acids. However, it’s still not a good idea to squeeze the pus out.
Another type of inflammatory acne is the nodules or cyst. It appears as large inflamed lesions with pus and it is usually painful. This type of acne can last for around weeks compared to the mild types of acne mentioned. As they harden and deepen, they can leave you deep scars once it's healed.
Acne conglobata is the type of acne most common to males. This is composed of large lesions and ordinarily interconnected with each other and with the presence of blackheads in each lesion. You can find this type to form on the face, chest, back, buttocks, and upper arms.
Next type is the acne rosacea. This is not really considered a type of acne because this usually occurs when you are over 30 years old. Normally, our skin also gets old so after 30 our body reacts differently to some medications and our skin easily flushes or blushes after a certain stimulus. But rosacea isn’t really an acne problem but almost similar like papules and pustules. In some cases, rosacea is often diagnosed as acne so dermatologists suggest acne-related medications and some are somehow successful.
Certainly, all types of acne are harmful if not treated well and fast. Do not wait for your mild acne to get worse. Prevent it from spreading and developing into the next stage so you will not regret it in the end.
