The fight against acne has gone high-tech
Newer and better technologies are coming out as weapons to fight acne. Many dermatologists have gotten their share of profits because of men and women who do not want evidence of acne on their faces. There are a lot of treatments that the dermatologist can offer, but first, what causes acne scarring? Before looking for treatment, it’s best to know the causes.
Scars caused by acne are the very visible results of the responses of your skin tissue to inflammation due to acne. Chemical peels - These can usually be used on small, depressed scars and even some of the larger ones. Removing blackheads, or comedones, can be the key in peeling off remaining acne scars.
Dermabrasion - This is one of the procedures that was developed before and is still being used today for treatment of acne scars. While chemical peel is ideal for acne scars sitting on the shallower surface of the skin, dermabrasion can have access to the deeper layers. It is ideal for treating hypertrophic and deep scars.
Laser treatment - This new technology is proven to be effective in treating the acne scars of selected patients. Different lasers have different energies, and these energies can penetrate various layers of tissues. This is ideal for scars that seem to be more complex.
Soft-tissue augmentation - It has already been mentioned above that acne scars can be a result of loss of tissue (atrophic). This new technology has the benefits of correcting some of these scars. Through injection of collagen or subcutaneous fat under the area with scars, they are brought up to the surface and appears to be in line with the surrounding skin. However, this treatment may be done in repetition over time.
